SHORT BIOGRAPHY FOR SAMUEL MINEGIBE EKEH

 

Samuel M. Ekeh is a versatile Artist in Dance, Music and Drama. He is a Composer, Song Arranger, a Recording Artist and an Actor, he is an open minded person always willing to learn new things dedicating most of his time to researches and finding new posibilities towards the development of culture.

Samuel Ekeh is a member of the Guild of Nigerian Dancers, a member of Lekki Artistes Association (Co-founded by Samuel Ekeh), and also a member of Ijodee Dance Centre. He was selected with nine other dancers to participate in DANZPRO 2011 and 2012 editions – A Contemporary Dance Workshop Training for Young Professional Dancers organized by the Alliance Francais, Institute Francais and the Goethe Institute, Lagos - Nigeria.

The Nigerian representative at the Ecoles des Sable 2011 Danse de Corresponse in Senegal and Nigerian representative at the danceWEB Scholarship Programme 2012 in Vienna, Austria. Was also awarded a second Scholarship as one of Nigerian Representative at the Ecole des Sables, 2013 – Criss-Crossing Path workshop and a diploma in Choreography (African Contemporary Dance and Germaine Acogny Technique) in Senegal. A Prince Claus Fund support Award recipient 2012 and 2015.

Presently a student of the University for Applied Arts, Vienna.

 

Samuel Minegibe Ekeh has worked with both National and International Choreographers, Directors, Producers and Dance Theorists like Germaine Acogny, Muyiwa Oshinaike, Isabelle Schad, Keith Henessy, Adedayo Liadi, Susan Bentley, Bud Blumenthal, David Zambrano, Benoit Lachambre, just to mention a few.
